Active Schools Week - Day Three

We are halfway through Active Schools Week and there is no stopping us! Today we were taking part in our annual Skipathon fundraiser! The girls from Junior Infants all the way up to Sixth Class were busy skipping all day long - inside and outside. We were skipping with ropes, hula-hoops, in pairs and creating a lot of different games to play too! Thank you very much to all the girls for their hard work skipping today and their efforts fundraising over the last week and, of course, we are very grateful to all the different family members, friends and neighbours who sponsored our pupils for this event!

Active Schools Week - Day Two

Another busy and exercise-filled day for all in St. Angela's as part of Active Schools Week 2018. Ms. Daly and her extra-curricular Dance Mania girls performed for Junior Infants to Second Class and also led them in some dances for Wake Up Shake Up! We were all wide awake after that! Classes were busy with the Hulahoopathon too! We have very talented girls who can spin and twirl hula hoops around their waists, arms, legs and even necks! We were aiming far with our Infants classes practising how far they can throw and our Senior girls taking part in a Puc Fáda challenge - we might have some Mayo camogie All-Stars in the future! Well done to Ms. Coleman and our committee members, Nicole and Mi

Active Schools Week - Day One

Active Schools Week has started and already we are on the move and exercising! Different classes were running throughout the day as part of our Daily Mile Initiative. We also had a selection of circuits set up in the Halla for classes to use - practising bicycle kicks, sit ups, star jumps and squats. There was a lot of aerobic activity! We worked on our strength too with a Tug of War. Ms. Maloney was DJ for the day when she played "Happy" over the intercom so that we could Drop Everything and Dance! Ms. Coleman and the Active Schools Committee have been busy making videos for us too of some of our Active Homework for this week! We're all looking forward to more activity and exercise over th

Fun Run!!

It’s April! Summer beckons! New Year’s Resolutions may be a distant memory but never fear – Active School Week is here! As you aware the school has really embraced the Daily Mile Initiative this year as part of our commitment to promote a healthy, happy and active lifestyle. As part of the school’s “Active School Flag” initiative, your child will be participating in a Fun Run on Friday 27th April 2018 during Active School Week. The Fun Run will take place in Lough Lannagh at 11.30 am together with the pupils from St. Patrick’s Boys National School and with the support of Parkrun Ireland and Mayo Sports Partnership. We would like to invite you to come along and support the children in this ru

Swings, drives and follow throughs!

What a day we had when Michael from the Confederation of Golf in Ireland joined us here in collaboration with Aidan our local golf pro and a couple of our experienced junior golfers, Kirsty & Méabh from Castlebar Golf Club to promote the sport of golf amongst our 5th and 6th class pupils. The children engaged in three main activities where they got to practise their driving, chipping and putting. The girls throughly enjoyed the day and apparently there were some very natural golfers spotted and not just among the students! Some of the adults too were identified as ladies who would be very useful in a scramble! This is just another example of how we are embracing the happy, healthy lifestyle
