NUI Galway Youth Academy

NUI Galway have asked us to bring this information to you on their behalf.

The Youth Academy works with high ability primary school children in the local community to support their learning and academic development. The programme aims to inspire entry into university by introducing children and their families to university life and by creating positive perceptions of the university and its academic programmes.

The Youth Academy works with 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils who have achieved in the top 5%, based on standardised test results. Students are eligible to apply if they are in the top 5 % in Maths or English. It does not have to be in both. This equates to a STen of 9 or 10.

Applications will open at 9 am on Monday 11th September. Parents apply directly themselves by completing an online application form at www.nuigalway.ie/youthacademy

The closing date for applications is Friday, September 15th but they advise that places fill up quickly.

A cost of €150 for the period of 6 weeks will apply and they also advise that families who have medical cards can apply for scholarships.
