Swings, drives and follow throughs!

What a day we had when Michael from the Confederation of Golf in Ireland joined us here in collaboration with Aidan our local golf pro and a couple of our experienced junior golfers, Kirsty & Méabh from Castlebar Golf Club to promote the sport of golf amongst our 5th and 6th class pupils. The children engaged in three main activities where they got to practise their driving, chipping and putting.

The girls throughly enjoyed the day and apparently there were some very natural golfers spotted and not just among the students! Some of the adults too were identified as ladies who would be very useful in a scramble!

This is just another example of how we are embracing the happy, healthy lifestyle here at school in general and as part of our work towards our Active Flag.

There is another chance to try out your golf skills in Castlebar Golf Club on Thursday evening April 19th from 7 to 8 pm. Anyone interested in giving golf a go is welcome to join us at the golf course.

Following this you can sign up for a 5 week programme of Golf lessons with Aidan Moran. Equipment will be supplied if necessary. The cost is €30 and it will run from May 3rd to 31st from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm on Thursday evenings.

Further information and registration forms available from Nuala 087 6913577, Veina 087 7655266 (Girls) and John 087 2724604 (Boys).
