Update from Parents' Association May 2021

Parents’ Association Update

Unfortunately we did not have our AGM after Christmas as initially planned due to the inability to have a face to face meeting and level 5 Covid restrictions.

As we are approaching our final few weeks of the academic year 2020 / 2021, we felt it was important to send on the following:

Return to School:

We would like to thank the Principal, Ms Maloney, the teachers and support staff for their continued support and for successfully managing the online learning and the phased return to school since March 15th 2020.

We were all delighted to be able to get back to school and have the girls see their friends and teachers again.

Christmas Fundraiser:

Thank you for your support for our fundraiser in December 2020. It was great to see the girls in their Christmas jumpers and they certainly seemed to have a great day. We will be making a donation towards the sensory room to the school before the end of the year.

Online Panto:

The Parents’ Association funded the panto which all classes got to watch online before Christmas.

Update from the steering committee looking at the future of St Angela's / St Patrick's:

As you are aware from the joint Parents’ Association public meeting in 2020 a steering committee was established and tasked with exploring a number of options in relation to the future of both schools.

The steering group is made up of representatives of both boards of management, teachers from both schools, members of the Parents’ Associations and both school Principals and Deputy Principals as well as an independent facilitator/chairperson appointed by Archbishop Neary.

We have met a number of times and discussed the main driving forces - namely provision of co-education and improved educational facilities for pupils attending St. Angela's NS & St Patrick's NS now and into the future.

The steering committee is currently in the process of collating all stakeholders’ views and we as the Parents’ Association representatives would welcome any input you as parents have if you would like to contribute to this process.

Please email Teresa Quinn at: chairpersonpa@stangelasns.ie on or before 1pm Wednesday June 2nd 2021.

Creative Schools Project:

As you are aware the school was selected to participate in the Creative Schools project this year and our thanks to Ms Healy for her coordination of same.

Striving for Summer

The Parents’ Association are happy to support the special fundraising No uniform Day on June 3rd for Summer O'Malley Kearney to raise money for vital treatment and services to support her rehabilitation and recovery. We understand that it is a difficult time for families, all donations will be welcomed and appreciated. We are sure you will join with us in wishing Summer every success with her treatment and all the very best for the future.

6th Class

We would like to wish our 6th class girls every success as they move to secondary school. We know they take with them many fond memories of their time in St Angela's. Graduating from 6th class is an important milestone for the girls (and their parents), we would like to wish them (and you) the very best of luck with the next phase of their educational journey.

This has been a very different school year for everyone, the Parents’ Association committee would like to thank you all for your continued support and wish you all the very best for the summer. Hopefully 2021 / 2022 will be a better year for everyone.

As always we welcome any contribution you may have, please feel free to email me at: chairpersonpa@stangelasns.ie

Warm Regards,

Teresa Quinn

Chairperson,
